Hunt Meadows Elementary offers an onsite after-school childcare program. It is a cooperative program between Anderson School District 1 and the Pickens County YMCA. The program runs every school day and begins immediately upon dismissal and ends at 5:30 PM. Each day, students are served a healthy snack, and are assisted with homework. Upon completion of homework, students are involved in a variety of activities including: outdoor group games and recess time, computer lab time, movies, inside large group activities, dance party time, art time and many others. The program and childcare staff are directed by Hunt Meadows teachers. Well trained counselors from local colleges and high schools make up the remainder of the staff, with the student/staff ratio at 12:1. The Y after-school program has been in existence at Hunt Meadows since the school opened, and has proven to be a very positive experience for many students and parents. For more information about the program and its costs, please contact the Pickens County YMCA at 855-9622.
