Hello ! Welcome to Angelia Armstrong's Classroom!
Welcome to Powdersville Middle School! My name is Angelia Armstrong and I teach 6th grade ELA, specifically focussing on Reading Literary Text, Language, and Communication skills. This is my 13th year teaching 6th grade here at Powdersville and I am delighted to be your child’s teacher this year. I am looking forward to a productive and rewarding year of learning and getting to know every one of my students.
Just to give you some background about me- I grew up right outside of Powdersville and graduated from Carolina High School in 1992. After a few years in the “real world” I went back to school and graduated from USC-Upstate in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grades Education, specifically ELA & Social Studies. I have a Masters of Learning and Technology and a second Masters in ESOL Learning, both from Western Governors University. I believe in being a LIFE-LONG Learner so I am now working on a MA in Teacher Leadership. I have always wanted to be a teacher and feel privileged to have the opportunity to teach at such a superlative school with a supportive team of teachers and staff.
I am also fortunate to be married to the love of my life! My wonderful husband is also a middle school teacher and teaches Project Lead The Way at Riverside Middle School in Greenville. We have 4 children: 2 girls and 2 boys. Since all of my skin babies are grown, I now spend a lot of time taking care of my fur babies: Boxers- Jasmine, and Tank and one little kitty affectionatley know as Baby Kitty! I'll show plenty of pictures of those babies for sure!
Although there is not a lot of free time, when I do find a minute I enjoy photography, reading, scrap booking, and spending time with my husband and children (when they have time of course!) and fur babies. We enjoy being outside; camping, gardening and especially boating, kayaking, and beaching! I also love to watch football with my husband, particularly the Miami Dolphins, Clemson, and of course my favorite team- the Powdersville Patriots. My favorite places to visit are Edisto Beach, ANYWHERE the Dolphins are playing, Indian Harbour Beach Florida, and Charleston to visit my daughter! We travel as often as possible!
It is an honor for me to be your child’s ELA teacher this year!
Email is the most effective and efficient way for us to communicate. If possible, please be sure that you provide us with an email address and notify us of any changes throughout the year. We also utilize the app "MyHomework" to send home informal communication. I also use Remind 101 to send out text reminders so be sure to sign up if you wish to be on my text list. If you need to schedule a conference, please feel free to contact the school at (864) 269-1821.
