I am truly blessed to be teaching at Powdersville Elementary this year! I completed my student teaching in this classroom under one of the best teacher's I've had, Miss Marino. She taught me so much, and I couldn't be more honored to come back this year as the teacher. We have an incredible team of teachers and assistants here at Powdersville, and are truly a family.
I am originally from Huntington Beach, California, but I've lived in Rock Hill, South Carolina for seven years. I like to say I've experienced the best of both worlds, the city and the country! I recently graduated from Anderson University in May 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Special Education. I began working with individudals and families with special needs through the Special Olympics. Since beginning to coach my freshman year of college, I have grown more passionate about sharing with others the amazing ABILITIES of my friends with special needs. My heart has been overwhelmed by their love, and my students continuously teach me everyone is made perfect and with purpose. Therefore, my goal as a teacher is to encourage my students, their families, and this wonderful community to recognize the inspiring special needs community.
I am also an Apple Certified Teacher, with170 hours of experience teaching special needs in elementary, middle, and high school settings. I have taught Kindergarteners in a school setting in Zambia (as pictured) for two weeks, as well as worked with exceptional children in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Currently, I enjoy volunteering for a special needs ministry at my church.
For fun, I love to do anything outdoors! I enjoy hiking, kayaking, riding horses, and boating at the lake! Since Greenville is my new home, I can't wait to start exploring the culture around here! I am so excited for this school year and cannot wait for all the learning and fun we are going to have!

    From Mrs. Mary:
    Mrs. Mary
-Welcome! I feel so blessed to be starting my 5th year in this classroom, it is truly my calling and I love it, I grew up with 2 family members who work with children with disabilities and special needs and its something I always knew I wanted to be apart of. Before working here I was a stay at home mom for 10 years. I grew up in this area and graduated from Wren High School in 2003, married my high shool sweetheart after graduation and we just celebrated 16 years of marriage. We have 2 beautiful children; Elijah who is 14, and Erin who is 9. At our home we have 2 huskies, 3 goats and 13 chickens. (We LOVE animals)
We live in this area and also attend church in Powdersville. In my free time I love spending time with my family and attending my kids extra cirricular activities, going to the movies, attending church. I am looking forward to a great year and helping these kids' LIGHT shine!

    From Miss Hannah:
    Miss Hannah
I am so excited to be apart of the Powdersville Elementary School team! I graduated from Winthrop University in Decemer of 2017. I majored in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Early Chilhood Studies. I have worked in daycare ever since I graduated college and I feel like my experiance in that environment will help me succeed in this classroom. I love being in a school environment and getting the chance to make learning fun and interesting!
In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching my favorite shows/movies. I also love to shop, dine out, and hang out in Downtown Greenville. The Peace Center is also fantastic and I try to save up for as many shows as I can each year.
Overall I look foward to getting to know each student in this classroom and making sure I build a good relationship with all of them. I truly love spending time with young kids. I think they can teach us so much no matter what age they are or where they come from. I hope everyone gets to have a fantastic school year!
